Compaq Cup 2009: New Zealand to meet Sri Lanka in opener
The host Sri Lanka will take on New Zealand in the opening Match of Compaq Cup 2009.
Each team will play one match with either side in the triangular. It will be a good practice match for India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka before the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa, beginning from September 22.
New Zealand lost the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka but black caps defeated the host in two twenty20 internationals.
However, the Kiwis team have been suffering from injuries and illness but Vettori & Co are looking strong enough against hosts.In a day-night encounter, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will clash on R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Tuesday.The series is crucial for Team India in prospectus of forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Team India will play its first ODI on September 11 against New Zealand here at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo after West Indies series.
